A Room of Ones Own

When we bought our little 1928 bungalow over five years ago - we knew that the day would come when the boys might need their own rooms. But being such a huge fan of the Brady Bunch, I remain a stalwart believer in room sharing.

That being said, it has become clear throughout the last few months that separate rooms were in order. (Like when Greg Brady moved to the new attic room). Noah seems to be aging faster than any human alive, so we made plans to finish a room upstairs. We found some great guys to do the job, and one week later, each boy has his own room: one decorated with dramatic posters about being amazing, and one decorated with all things soccer.

To be fair, almost every sign of my children's growing older makes me tear up these days. And true to form this individual room milepost makes me emotional, but it is altogether appropriate that we made it happen. Having our own, private space to reflect and create is so important - and I can tell already what a difference it is making for both of the boys.
