Les Miserables (Noah's Birthday Surprise!)

We surprised Noah with his first Broadway show this past week (for his 12th birthday).b  It was one of the coolest things ever.  You see, Noah has come to fall in love with all things Broadway.  It started with Hamilton, and his participation in the theater.  Since then, he has come to adore musical theater, and we are stoked to help out.  So, we got tickets to Les Miserables in Greenville for this past Thursday night.  Jessica had yet to see a Broadway play either, so she took him, and they both took the next day off from school.

As a parent, I have always striven to make sure that my kids get as many opportunities as possible to witness greatness - to see people do things that they are great at (this idea came from advice from the great writer Sarah Vowell).

So, seeing incredible actors perform on the stage certainly fits the mold, and I hope it inspires him to follow his passions forever, and continue being the amazing boy that he is.

Burrito Bracket

Im 30....seriously.

I am turning 30 today. So in the spirit of reflecting on these first 30 years of living, I am starting this blog. So, to begin - I shall update my status in life (this sounds complicated, so I will just try this in "list form."): Noah = greatest thing that ever happened to me. having a child was like an act of god, immediatly enacting a revolution on my perspective. Everyone tells you that " it is going to change everything." But I think I internalized that in a way that seemed to say ... things outside of me would change ie: schedules, sleeping, finaces, etc. Those things do change. But I did not accept that it would be ME that would go through the most profound changes. What I mean is, that the world itself has not shifted, but my view of that world (like Picasso in his Cubist period) has been transformed.
