We enjoyed our "Spring Break" this past week.
On the day before Easter, we hiked to Hawksbill Rock. Being outside was a big lift for most of us, though the hike was a big climb (everyone was worried about Maggie!). The park service closed most of the Blue Ridge Parkway and all hiking trails bout 48 hours after we completed this hike, so we go it in just in time! They announced that closings would last through August - which took us into a day long depression, as we have yet to see anything closed for the length of the summer. It is a hard pill to swallow.
Our Easter was obviously a low key affair, with fried chicken... and the Easter Bunny driving by in a car!
Since then, we have had a full week of virtual school, and are taking things one day at a time.
The vibe of conversation has noticeably shifted among our community an friends this week - as most folks are becoming increasingly worried about the economy now. Many in our extended families have lost jobs, or been furloughed already. The worry of actually contracting the virus is now taking a back seat to the likely recession that we are entering.
