| Lake Santeetlah! |
We spent four days at Lake Santeetlah last week. It ranks as one of my favorite family vacations ever. You see, we have reached a point where our challenge is finding activities that all four of equally enjoy. This is due mostly to the current ages of our kids, and how they are experiencing different interests at present.
So, the lake was an excellent balm for that issue, as the only thing to do was play in the lake. They really grew as paddlers, and became even more comfortable in the lake.
And we honestly have the pandemic to thank for it...
Every summer, our family of four takes a week long vacation with my extended family (always to Hilton Head, as readers will have noted) - and then try to make sure we take a trip with just the four of us. We were fortunate enough to travel to Pittsburgh and DC last summer, as an example. But this year, the coronovirus really shut down any of our ideas about travel to a big city. So it forced us to look closer to home - and seek out our good friends who have a house at the lake.
And that really helped us all find some zen, as there wasn't much to do there, except swim, paddle, and hang out. The only time we left our house was to enjoy the splendor of the giant trees in Joyce Kilmer Memorial Forest - which was also a zen moment for (at least two) of us.
Feeling thankful for the time away.
