Skate or Die!

 Avery and Addie (especially Addie) have become more and more interested in skating during this pandemic.  I understand that skateboard sales have exploded since March, and I guess that is not surprising.  Skating is a perfect activity for all of this madness.

So last week, I took them down to one of our outdoor skate parks  - the RAD.  It is full o f homemade ramps, concrete obstacle, and street art.  I love it there.  Before long, I found myself totally in the zone of skating.  And though I am not very good or confident at this point in life, skating just takes me back to my young self.  

The kids had had enough after about 45 minutes, but I kept asking for just 5 more minutes.  It was a blast, and I am always grateful that I discovered skating in my younger days.

Im 30....seriously.

I am turning 30 today. So in the spirit of reflecting on these first 30 years of living, I am starting this blog. So, to begin - I shall update my status in life (this sounds complicated, so I will just try this in "list form."): Noah = greatest thing that ever happened to me. having a child was like an act of god, immediatly enacting a revolution on my perspective. Everyone tells you that " it is going to change everything." But I think I internalized that in a way that seemed to say ... things outside of me would change ie: schedules, sleeping, finaces, etc. Those things do change. But I did not accept that it would be ME that would go through the most profound changes. What I mean is, that the world itself has not shifted, but my view of that world (like Picasso in his Cubist period) has been transformed.
