First Day of School {One of the Best!}

We all returned to school this week.  It has been a welcomed return of course, and we are all thrilled to be back.  Both of our kids came home with enthusiasm and excitement about their new year - extolling the virtues of their new teachers, schedules and friends.  Honestly, that has not been the case every year, so it was pretty glorious.

Avery made the Middle School soccer team, so is practicing daily after school for that.  He had dreamed of playing for his school team for many years ( a byproduct of growing up in a family of educators I guess), so this is so exciting for him.

Noah is serving as President of the sophomore class in Student Council, and plans to continue working weekends at Vortex Donuts.  He is also taking my AP World History class this year, so we are spending much time together!

Jessica and I are just continuing to carry on in our usual jobs, but it is fair to say that we both have a new appreciation for being in the building, working with kids in person.

Feeling super grateful to be a teacher this week.

Burrito Bracket

Im 30....seriously.

I am turning 30 today. So in the spirit of reflecting on these first 30 years of living, I am starting this blog. So, to begin - I shall update my status in life (this sounds complicated, so I will just try this in "list form."): Noah = greatest thing that ever happened to me. having a child was like an act of god, immediatly enacting a revolution on my perspective. Everyone tells you that " it is going to change everything." But I think I internalized that in a way that seemed to say ... things outside of me would change ie: schedules, sleeping, finaces, etc. Those things do change. But I did not accept that it would be ME that would go through the most profound changes. What I mean is, that the world itself has not shifted, but my view of that world (like Picasso in his Cubist period) has been transformed.
