Noah got a job!

 Noah started his first job this week at Vortex Donuts.  He has wanted a job since he was about 12 years old.  If you know Noah, you know that he is as independent of a person as there is.  He always prefers to do things himself, and prefers to be as self-sufficient as possible. Always. (sidebar: this is often super hard for me, because I love him and just want to parent him, but he is his own person).

As for this job, and to my point - he alone was seeking this out.  He thought that Vortex seemed like a cool place to work, so he basically cold called them, set up an interview and typed his on resume.

Anyways, it has been a great gift for him to have this job.  He interacts with the public, and is a great friendly face.  He is learning new things, including how to make coffee!

Im 30....seriously.

I am turning 30 today. So in the spirit of reflecting on these first 30 years of living, I am starting this blog. So, to begin - I shall update my status in life (this sounds complicated, so I will just try this in "list form."): Noah = greatest thing that ever happened to me. having a child was like an act of god, immediatly enacting a revolution on my perspective. Everyone tells you that " it is going to change everything." But I think I internalized that in a way that seemed to say ... things outside of me would change ie: schedules, sleeping, finaces, etc. Those things do change. But I did not accept that it would be ME that would go through the most profound changes. What I mean is, that the world itself has not shifted, but my view of that world (like Picasso in his Cubist period) has been transformed.
