Julien Baker - "Relative Fiction"

I love going to rock shows and consider myself so lucky that I live in a place that attracts interest from national bands, though we are a small market.  And one of the primary reasons that I love rock shows is the pure communal experience of the moment - all of us feeling the same thing at the same time is magic.


But sometimes I like to go to shows alone.  I also used to enjoy seeing a movie alone as well.  And this past week, I was lucky enough to go see Julien Baker here in Asheville, and she crushed it.  Sometimes live shows have a way of drawing attention to songs that I never really noticed before, and that is exactly what happened with Relative Fiction in this instance.  This song simply blew me away, and helped usher in all. the.  feels.  Now I can't stop listening to it.  Enjoy.

Im 30....seriously.

I am turning 30 today. So in the spirit of reflecting on these first 30 years of living, I am starting this blog. So, to begin - I shall update my status in life (this sounds complicated, so I will just try this in "list form."): Noah = greatest thing that ever happened to me. having a child was like an act of god, immediatly enacting a revolution on my perspective. Everyone tells you that " it is going to change everything." But I think I internalized that in a way that seemed to say ... things outside of me would change ie: schedules, sleeping, finaces, etc. Those things do change. But I did not accept that it would be ME that would go through the most profound changes. What I mean is, that the world itself has not shifted, but my view of that world (like Picasso in his Cubist period) has been transformed.
