Noah Update

Look, lets get this out of the way: having a teenager isn't always easy and there have been rough stretches and tough conversations.  But overall - we are all making it through for the better.  To that end, lets check in on our oldest teen, Noah.

Noah got a job working at Pop Bubble Tea this summer and has just loved it.  He is a good worker; he takes it seriously and has learned new skills (Bubble Tea Barista stuff) and takes on responsibility.  If you are in North Asheville, go by and see him!

In addition, he has started visiting colleges on the weekends.  he and a friend spent last weekend at our alma mater, UNCG.  He had a wonderful time there and told us afterwards that he "didn't want to like it as much as I did" because we both went there.  We'll see how it all pans out of course.  

So far his junior year has gone well.  He is a social butterfly and never turns down an opportunity for social activities, he even had a bouncy house for his 17th birthday.   He still loves student council the most, and is looking forward to his Denmark Exchange program this Spring.

Burrito Bracket

Im 30....seriously.

I am turning 30 today. So in the spirit of reflecting on these first 30 years of living, I am starting this blog. So, to begin - I shall update my status in life (this sounds complicated, so I will just try this in "list form."): Noah = greatest thing that ever happened to me. having a child was like an act of god, immediatly enacting a revolution on my perspective. Everyone tells you that " it is going to change everything." But I think I internalized that in a way that seemed to say ... things outside of me would change ie: schedules, sleeping, finaces, etc. Those things do change. But I did not accept that it would be ME that would go through the most profound changes. What I mean is, that the world itself has not shifted, but my view of that world (like Picasso in his Cubist period) has been transformed.
