The Dead Computer and Other Things.

So our computer is dying. It is contracted a virus of some kind, and I am sure that this is my fault for not updating my anti-virus stuff, but so it goes. So anyways, Mr. Computer is at the doctor - and we are going without our most common conduit to the outside world. . .and I like it. We are having to be a bit more patient in our acquisition of daily information, and it makes me feel a bit more zen-like, ya know?

Things are still going well for us. I am still basking in the perfect day we had last Saturday at Max Patch. It was truly one of those days in my life that I knew was amazing and unforgettable - and I realized in real time. So, I still feel recharged from that little expedition. But sleep is not something that we get in surplus, but we are surviving.

Noah is doing G-R-E-A-T, and has (seemingly, and as of this writing) completed his potty training, at least for the last two weeks. Now that we are at this point (which is nice), I feel like we probably could have done better in our potty training teaching, but I am unsure what we would have done differently. Noah let us know when he was physically and emotionally ready for it, and we obliged with rewards and such. We picked the brains of our friends and family, and everyone was really helpful. And Noah was on his way, pooping and peeing like a little champ. But then everything started to lead up to Avery's birth, and Noah felt differently about the potty. So for the 2 - 3 weeks leading up to Avery, and the 2-3 weeks after Avery arrived - Noah's potty usage was spotty and kind of funny. But now our lives are as back to as normal as they ever will be, and Noah is a potty trained little boy. So, cool.
Avery is still just his little laid back self. He is sort of smiling now, and has a little reflux going on. He loves to ride in the car seat, and look at lights.

Burrito Bracket

Eating a ginormous burrito at El Farolito in San Francisco, 2004 I LOVE burritos.  It is a passion that I share with my brother, and we actively seek out a quality burrito in almost every place we visit (Jessica is more of a Fish Taco kind of gal, but she enjoys burritos as well).  My love affair began around the age of 18, in the parking lots of Phish shows - where I could find any number of amazing burritos, cooked up on a dirty Coleman stove.  I just loved the explosion of flavor (and surprise) that came with each burrito I ate in those years. One of the the first times I visited Asheville for a few days in college, I came across Rio Burrito, a now defunct burrito-specific shop on Biltmore Avenue.  I went there all the time, and got to know all the nice folk who worked there.  So, I was quite disappointed when they shut it down - so much so that I wrote about it here.   But when Mamacitas opened in downtown Asheville in Spring 2004, I was smitten...

Im 30....seriously.

I am turning 30 today. So in the spirit of reflecting on these first 30 years of living, I am starting this blog. So, to begin - I shall update my status in life (this sounds complicated, so I will just try this in "list form."): Noah = greatest thing that ever happened to me. having a child was like an act of god, immediatly enacting a revolution on my perspective. Everyone tells you that " it is going to change everything." But I think I internalized that in a way that seemed to say ... things outside of me would change ie: schedules, sleeping, finaces, etc. Those things do change. But I did not accept that it would be ME that would go through the most profound changes. What I mean is, that the world itself has not shifted, but my view of that world (like Picasso in his Cubist period) has been transformed. It has been a traumatic shift for me, but in a beautiful way. Stop everything. "Icky Thump" by the White Stripes just came on the ipod. Sweet Jesus t...
