Superchunk Played on My Birthday.


So....Superchunk rocked my face off on the night of my 33rd birthday. My parents took care of Avery and Noah, while Jess and I ate at Pepper's Pizza with our great friends Leah and Rich. It was yummy and fun. Then we hit some shops on Franklin street en route to the Cats Cradle for some amazing Superchunk. Ryan Gustafson opened, and he and his band were solid.
But, for Chunk we were able to get to the second row, while watching them totally destroy an impressive set, covering the span of their 20+ year career. They had as much energy and lightness as I have ever seen, so the show was extremely loud and funny. My favorite songs of the night were certainly Tower, Ribbon, Precision Auto, and On the Mouth (not the whole record of that name - but the actual song! wow). Jessica's favorite was Slack Motherf**ker (of course :) Helluva Birthday - Here is the setlist:

Burrito Bracket

Im 30....seriously.

I am turning 30 today. So in the spirit of reflecting on these first 30 years of living, I am starting this blog. So, to begin - I shall update my status in life (this sounds complicated, so I will just try this in "list form."): Noah = greatest thing that ever happened to me. having a child was like an act of god, immediatly enacting a revolution on my perspective. Everyone tells you that " it is going to change everything." But I think I internalized that in a way that seemed to say ... things outside of me would change ie: schedules, sleeping, finaces, etc. Those things do change. But I did not accept that it would be ME that would go through the most profound changes. What I mean is, that the world itself has not shifted, but my view of that world (like Picasso in his Cubist period) has been transformed.
