Filmage {The Descendents}

I first learned of the Descendents when I was in the 7th Grade.  My best friend was a kid named Mark, who introduced me to punk rock...through the Descendents (and ALL).  To this day, the pop/punk sound of the Descendents remains a common thread in almost all music that I love. (I still have my Alva skateboard with the words "Descendents" written on the griptape..).  They just had a way of combining the aggression of punk rock, with California pop music that stuck with me.

They simply influenced the hell out of me.

It is also true that certain music remains the foremost catalyst to elicit emotion for me.  So, from the Sundays, to Sigur Ros, to Amazing Grace at my Father's funeral - songs bring out the core emotions in me, and help me to gain true reflection.

Watching this documentary Filmage, about the Descendents was a straight  up emotional experience for me.
If you get an opportunity, or "Get the Time" - it is well worth it.

Im 30....seriously.

I am turning 30 today. So in the spirit of reflecting on these first 30 years of living, I am starting this blog. So, to begin - I shall update my status in life (this sounds complicated, so I will just try this in "list form."): Noah = greatest thing that ever happened to me. having a child was like an act of god, immediatly enacting a revolution on my perspective. Everyone tells you that " it is going to change everything." But I think I internalized that in a way that seemed to say ... things outside of me would change ie: schedules, sleeping, finaces, etc. Those things do change. But I did not accept that it would be ME that would go through the most profound changes. What I mean is, that the world itself has not shifted, but my view of that world (like Picasso in his Cubist period) has been transformed.
