Yesterday was Noah's birthday party, and it was a damn-near perfect day. I am serious. I think all three of us enjoyed yesterday as much as any day we have had in the past few months. It sort of started with Friday. Jessica and I took cupcakes to Noah's school and had a party with the kids on the playground. It was so much fun. Guess what? Kids love cupcakes! Who knew? Then we rested for Saturday's festivities.
The Saturday Play By Play:
We woke up, ate breakfast and played with new toys. Noah wore his Superman jammies. Noah even got to eat some Fruity Pebbles. Noah opened his presents from us. He was elated. We did some new puzzles. We danced around the house, listening to music. We played outside while Jessica got stuff ready for the party. We ate bagels and sang songs. We loaded up and went to the Gymnastics place downtown, that we rented out for the party. (This was a split party with his friend Virginia, who has a birthday this week. We invited basically their whole school, plus other friends.)
All the kids arrived and
ran around like a toddler-esque hurricane - bouncing on trampolines, running over obstacles, climbing walls and tunnels, and playing parachute games. Noah WAS SO HAPPY. All of his friends were there and they were having the time of their lives. It was perfect. We ate cake and got all sugared up. Then we came home and Noah could not wait to take a nap! Amazing! Jessica and I just relaxed and talked. Noah woke up, and we played with his new toys, read his Star Wars books, ate dinner, and hit the sack. We woke up this morning to watch three, beautiful deer stroll across our backyard, and drink from the stream. Perfect!

Perfect! Now Jessica has gone to Charleston for a few days, leaving the boys to hold down the fort. We always miss her when she goes, and we have been talking about Mommy already. But - we are happy that she is going to have a great time with her friend, Dicksy. They are attending a counseling conference, but I think they are more interested in getting some well-deserved R and R together. To quote Noah the Great Three year old, "Be careful Mommy!."
