So, Noah had his first "soccer game" this past weekend, though it was neither "soccer" or a
"game." Here he is (pic) in all of his soccer glory. But notice that he has a bit of a punk-rock scowl on his face, because he did not feel too well. He had a bit of a cough, and was crazy tired. Add to that the fact that YMCA soccer in Asheville for three year olds is the most comedically chaotic thing I have ever seen - and Noah was totally confused as to what he was supposed to be doing and kind of grumpy.
The biggest challenge during the whole "game" was just trying to actually keep kids on the field, or off the field - as the case may be. Eventually (translation: 15 minutes later), the "coaches" gave up and just told everyone, and their parents, to come on the field and kick a soccer ball...anywhere. Noah kicked the ball a few times, and ran around. But then he just sort of wandered around, and wanted to eat his halftime snack. This lack of team morale fit in very well with his teamates, some of whom made a mad dash for the playground at any free moment. I laughed so hard, and for 20 minutes, that I was crying. It was awesome.
