Noah's life is still remarkably better since he got his swing ("I want to go super-duper high," says Noah). He loves it and we are spending A LOT of time back there these days. So, yesterday, after a trip to Home Depot, we acquired the necessary materials to finish hanging Avery's (baby) swing, beside Noah's. So, it was a watershed day, as Avery experienced his first outdoor swinging. Not only that, but his older brother, Noah, was eager to push him. It was a great moment to watch Noah and Avery just hanging out by the swings - both having a great time. It was not long before Avery just drifted off to sleep in his swing, and Noah was back on his - soaring high above the world.
The next BIG development this week was that Noah completely gave up his pacifier at night time. You see, he has not had a passy during the daylight hours for over a year now - but night time was still passy time in our house. We have not pushed the issue, as Noah has had 10 months of intense transition (complete with moving to a new house, potty training, welcoming a new baby, and just last week he moved to the next classroom at school.) But, we feel like we are at a "cruising altitude" at this point, and can just chill out a little. So, we talked to Noah about it - and he decided to mail the passy to "The Babies" on Saturday. He did it, and we treated him to smoothies, the jumping thing at the mall, and new books. This is a big deal, and we are really proud of him. So, if you see him - give him a hug and a high five!
Another BIG development this week is that Avery took a bottle! Up until now, he has been getting all of his food 100% from Mommy. But Daddy wants to feed him too, and we have an anniversary coming up on June 16 - and we are going to see Band of Horses at the Orange Peel. So, since before Avery was born we knew that we would have to introduce the bottle before a babysitter came on June 16, and he took it down on the first try! Whew! In retrospect, I think we waited a little too long to introduce a bottle to Noah - and thus he was a bit more squeamish to take it at first. But, this time was a bit easier. So, cool - one less thing.
The last BIG development is that Phish is playing in downtown Asheville tomorrow night. We could not get tickets (as it sold out in 4 minutes), but that is okay as I have already seen them 15 times. BUT, we are going to take our little boys downtown tomorrow after school to see the sights, eat some veggie burritos, and enjoy the scene. The Asheville Police are even blocking off the main streets for the event! I am so excited.
