If you are planning a visit to the Graham house, tread lightly - for mischief abounds. You see, it is time to pay the fiddler. Noah has fully realized that the rest of his life is to be different than the first three years of his life. He has no personal problem with Avery, as much as he has a problem with the fact that he is now ONE kid of the family, not THE kid in the family. I think the experts call it "acting out," but we call it "Where did Noah go, and who is this anarchist kid that we have been left with?" The honeymoon ended this weekend. Noah is throwing 1 - 2 nasty tantrums per day. He is peeing in his pants. He has stopped napping. He is belligerent. He says mean things. He refuses to get in (or out) of the car. . . he is a hand full.
After three years of parenting though, I can say one thing for certain concerning this situation: this too shall pass. Jessica and I both understand this, and are also quite empathetic to Noah's plight. This must truly suck for him - and that is heartbreaking. So we try not to get frustrated with his behavior, and to just give him the attention that he so desperately craves - but we have our hands full. He will be okay, and we will be okay. But right now it is hard as hell.
