The best project ever.

As I teach AP World History, we have our exam in the second week of May. That means we always have to find interesting and relevant projects to complete for the final month of school. For a few years, we have created various type of artistic (both performance and visual) projects. But this year, my students and I developed the coolest one ever: Paint the classroom. Well...not just paint it, but paint 40 international flags around the top, and complete a 7 framed mural of historical images on the entire back wall.

Could we do it? we wondered. of course we could.
Teenagers just go for it, ya know - and they did. The pics show their work. And they were working like champs to research, design, sketch, and paint. They even developed their own systems of cleanup, color mixing, and paint storage.
I am lucky enough to have the best job in the world, with the best students with which to share it.

Burrito Bracket

Im 30....seriously.

I am turning 30 today. So in the spirit of reflecting on these first 30 years of living, I am starting this blog. So, to begin - I shall update my status in life (this sounds complicated, so I will just try this in "list form."): Noah = greatest thing that ever happened to me. having a child was like an act of god, immediatly enacting a revolution on my perspective. Everyone tells you that " it is going to change everything." But I think I internalized that in a way that seemed to say ... things outside of me would change ie: schedules, sleeping, finaces, etc. Those things do change. But I did not accept that it would be ME that would go through the most profound changes. What I mean is, that the world itself has not shifted, but my view of that world (like Picasso in his Cubist period) has been transformed.
